Lucy Wanzer (she/her) is a PhD student in Earth and Planetary Sciences studying physical oceanography and glaciology. She grew up in the state of Maine and obtained her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Wellesley College in 2019 where she studied Geosciences. After college, she did the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship where she lived outside the US for a year (Greece, Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia) studying small boats, ocean and fisheries policy. She then taught high school field science for two years focusing on place-based education on the coast of Maine. She obtained her Masters of Science (MS) from Oregon State University in 2025 where she studied ice-ocean interactions in Antarctica and Alaska. At Harvard, she is continuing in this field, focusing on oceanography in the North Atlantic, and ice-ocean interactions in Greenland. She loves to be on the water or in the forest, and thrives on connective conversations.
